Baby days, one diaper at a time
Who knew that life would be so amazing- changing one diaper at a time.
As a kid, all I wanted was to be married and have kids. Funny thing is I am the youngest of 6 kids. I guess my parents did a very good job of making parenting look fun. And yes it is. I just never imagined that the most important question on my mind would be, what brand of diapers to buy. Pampers? Huggies? Is the store brand really as good as name brand?
At 21 years old I always thought I would have been thinking about what Bar I am going to be having my first legal drink at… but instead I was looking at my new born baby thankful for this gift I had been given. Now, I realize that happy hour means, nap time. My newborn baby I had at 21 years old is now 6 years old, diapers are long gone for him, being fully potty trained by 2 years old my life has been diaper free for a solid 4 years now. But low and behold as of 5 months ago the diapers have begun again for us again. After nearly 6 years of no poopy diapers, or uh-oh the diaper leaked- moments... started all over again and it somehow feels like the first time. I found myself wondering once again, what diapers do I buy, why do some diapers leak and others hold in for hours. How do I find the right size for my baby’s shape, yes my life has now been redefined as one diaper at a time once again, and I would not change this for anything in the world.
On a personal preference note here I will say that pampers swaddlers has become my choice of diaper. I love how soft the diaper is, feels like cloth. Also, I like that it holds in the smell very well and over all I give pampers a huge thumbs up! (no I do not, nor have I ever- worked for pampers J )
On average a new born baby will blow through 10-12 dirty diapers a day. Yes 10-12, so that is an average of 77 a week. Have you seen the cost of diapers these days? You will most likely be spending around $60-80 a month on diapers. As I already stated, pampers is my diaper of choice and I started noticing coupons everywhere- cereal boxes, baby wipe packaging, online, in the mail etc.
Here is what I do, I buy the box of pampers instead of the bag, you spend more initially but in the end you save lots of money. Many coupons are stackable, meaning you can use more than one at a time. I have now been saving on average $8 per box of diapers I buy, that’s average of $16 a month, $192 a year. That is a lot of money when thought about the small of effort it takes to gather these coupons every month. That is music to any mother’s ears.
Saving money these days in this economy is something we should all be interested in. There are many forums you can read up on where other people post good deals they have found. There are websites devoted solely to providing coupons and coupon codes. I personally have utilized these websites and have looked for saving money on every aspect I can. Weather it is on the super cute outfit I know he has to have, or the best way to save money on diapers and baby wipes, items we must have and items we must use.
Every mother is a super hero in her own way. Multitasking becomes second nature. You are looked at by your child as the ultimate example of- what I want to be when I grow up. I hope to always remember that the best gift I could ever give my child Is a good example. There are so many aspects of being a good mommy and we will never master them all, so as for now, I will live my life, one diaper at a time.
